The artist Anne Imhof offers an out-of-the-ordinary experience at the Palais de Tokyo.

A large-scale exhibition is currently on show at the Palais de Tokyo. Visual artist Anne Imhof, who stunned the public at the 2017 Venice Biennale by winning the Golden Lion for her Faust performance set up in the basement of the German pavilion, is doing it again, only this time she has taken over the entire museum. She has created a gigantic glass maze for her works and those of her peers; the walls are tagged with graffiti and the tour includes pictures, sculptures and sound (latter composed by Eliza Douglas, who performs in person on certain dates).

Anne Imhof au Palais de TokyoAnne Imhof likes to invite fellow artists whenever possible, such as Géricault, Cy Twombly, Sigmar Polke, Joan Mitchell, Wolfgang Tillmans and Cyprien Gaillard, to join her to discuss a particular theme, in this case Nature Morte (still life) and Memento Mori, comparing what is alive and what is not, light and shade, past and present, intense physical abilities and disenchanted immobility.

Imhof has become a major figure in modern art over the last 12 years due to her radical and complete work, and the skeleton structure of the museum is ideal for her sensorial symphony.

After such an out-of-the-ordinary experience, there are several great places to choose from to enjoy a break, order some food and have good chat about the show! Forest, another new Moma Group table in town, has set up shop on the Modern Art Museum's huge, sun-kissed terrace facing the Eiffel Tower. Natural produce, especially vegetables, play a vital role in the restaurant's cuisine; try out Challah bread and pickled garlic yoghurt with a feu cocktail followed by something sweet such as the delicious cookie trio. Which leads us to Italy on the Palais de Tokyo side with the new Bambini trattoria, created by Laurent de Gourcuff who founded Monsieur Bleu on the same terrace. Aperitivo all round with refreshing drinks such as Prosecco, Spritz, Bellini and Negroni, alongside some cicchetti, delicious little Venetian bites similar to Spanish tapas ... ah, la dolce vita in Paris!
