The site of “Les deux caps”, a bird-watcher’s paradise

Nature

A wonderful landscape in the Northern France

The Boulonnais nature park is famous for its beautiful downland hills and valleys, and a spectacular natural coastline with miles of cliffs, wide sandy beaches, sand-dunes and marshes. On the French Channel coast, between Sangatte and Wimereux, not far from Boulogne-sur-Mer, the Site of the Two Capes – Cap Blanc-Nez and Cap Gris-Nez – offer an ideal vantage point to watch seabirds, particularly in autumn when the flocks from Northern Europe and Siberia migrate towards the Atlantic.

Later, at the first signs of approaching cold in the North, you can spot geese and ducks as they flee to the warm south. From there, you can also observe another strange ballet – the constant maritime traffic of boats of all sizes or types taking the Channel, and heading north or south.

The Site of the Two Capes Became "Grand Site de France" in 2011.
