Villa A - maison d'hôtes - Nouvelle-Aquitaine

A peaceful getaway in the heart of Charente

The owners of Villa A are passionate about history and heritage, and have transformed this 19th-century Charentais residence into a place of discovery, where every room is an encounter with the past. At the crossroads of English art de vivre and Italian dolce vita, the Villa promises a unique experience.

As soon as you step through the doors of this 19th-century house, the hustle and bustle of the modern world fades away, replaced by a world of refinement and beauty. Soul, heart, and spirit are nurtured in every corner of this place. In the early morning, stop off at the library, overflowing with art and music books, then take your steaming mug of tea to the Orangerie. As night falls, take a look at the Salon des Estampes to brush up on decorative art, then curl up in the armchairs of the Cabinet de Curiosités to watch a classic film.

The highlight of this spectacle is a 12-acre garden showcasing topiary art and Italian style. A little further on, a river flows by a peaceful meadow. Next, near the 18-meter swimming pool, you’ll find the estate’s rose garden and orchard. The rooms and suites extend this enchanting experience. The Bellagio Suite transports you to the shores of Lake Como; the “Polish Suite evokes the splendor of the 18th century with its classical furnishings; and the Bayadère Room offers a breathtaking view of the park. Here, travel – temporal and otherwise – is delightfully natural.

Villa A is the ideal base from which to explore the region of the Charente with its rich traditions and gourmet heritage. The nearby towns of Angoulême and Cognac are perfect for taking a stroll, while a private tour of a winery followed by a tasting of Grande Champagne vintages is an unforgettable sensory experience.
