    From Valence to the Hôtel de la Villeon

    Km to Km

    Taking place from Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean beaches, the ViaRhôna is the new cycling destination along the Rhône. For this first day, you will travel a stretch of the highway by pedalling riverside, from Valence to Tournon-sur-Rhône, along 21km. The landscapes are worth the trip, and arriving at Valence will surprise you with its gardens and colourful markets. For the return trip, take the opposite path and if you wish you can also make a detour on your arrival by the Château de Crussol, located 5km away from Valence, and which dominates the Rhône Valley.

    When you arrive at Tournon-sur-Rhône, you will be able to discover the world of wine with "Cosmovino" who will guide you through the Hermitage, Saint Joseph, Cornas or Saint Péray vineyards, visiting estates, tasting courses and wine-related activities. If you have enough time, cross the river Rhône finish up your day with a stroll in the Zen Garden by Erik Borja, a peaceful haven inspired by Japanese gardens.

    From the Hôtel de la Villeon to the Château de Saint Trys

    Km to Km

    For Day 2, head to Saint-Antoine-l'Abbaye, ranked among the most beautiful villages in France and whose site is listed as an historical monument for its rich religious past. The Abbey Church of Saint Antoine, built starting in the 13th century, is a remarkable Gothic achievement, with its magnificent carved portal. Then go to the Palais Ideal du Cheval factor in Hauterives. Joseph Ferdinand Cheval (1836 - 1924), a postman in the Drôme, built an imaginary world with his own hands, stone by stone. A unique place in the world, it was declared a historic monument by Minister of Culture André Malraux in 1969. Finish the day by going to Lyon, and admire the magnificent Notre Dame de Fourvière, one of the key monuments of the city, a World Heritage Site. The tour of Lyon will continue the next day.

     

    2nd night at the Château de Saint Trys.

    From the Château de Saint Trys to the Château de Vollore

    Km to Km

    For this penultimate day, you can explore the city of Lyon, whose historic site is a World Heritage Site. Head to the Museum of Fine Arts, located in the heart of the city's historical centre. The museum covers all major areas of art history and features large exhibitions throughout the year. Then go to the Parc de la Tête d'Or, an English style garden created from an arm of the Rhône. You can admire the rose beds, featuring over 350 varieties. Then wander Old Lyon, with its medieval streets along the River Saône.

     

    3rd night at Château de Vollore, until the end of your stay.

    Km to Km

    For your final day, head towards Lake Aubusson in the Livradois Natural Park, which gives you a very good overview of the unspoilt Auvergne, on a bike ride, walking, or on horseback.
