An ideal winter’s day in Paris suggested by Esprit de France hotels.
9.00am: “All happiness begins with a quiet breakfast” (Somerset Maugham). Starting the day with a typical Parisian breakfast is ideal. French-style Viennese pastries are a definite Must when visiting Paris. Good news - all our hotels offer a carefully selected a range of breakfast produce for a gentle start to the day. Savour baguettes with light and crunchy crusts, as well as delicious Viennese pastries prepared by Chef Dominique Saibron; all served with excellent coffee. Act like a real Parisian and grab a second cup before setting off to explore!
11.00am: On time for La trahison des images, as the René Magritte exhibition opens its doors. The Belgian painter’s works are revealed in a new light. Visitors will discover Magritte’s little-known passion for philosophy and his permanent quest to make sense of it. Certain recurring elements, which are the main themes of his work, are highlighted: fireplaces, shadows, curtains, fractioned words and bodies. A worthwhile visit which shows us how Magritte was far more mysterious and unpredictable than he seemed.
12.30pm: Paris won’t wait! So don’t waste any time and head straight for the Opéra district to get a sandwich from Petit Vendôme (rue des Capucines) opposite the Hôtel Mansart. From there, off to the famous department stores where you will be spoilt for choice: Galeries Lafayette, Bon Marché and Printemps. Not forgetting the incredible temporary Christmas window creations designed for children which equally enchant adults.
2.00pm: Keep going! Go to the Big Wheel set up at Place de la Concorde for the annual end of year festivities and enjoy a tour. Paris at your feet leaves an unforgettable memory.
3.00pm: Tea-time. After all, you skipped lunch… Gourmet teatimes served not far from Place de la Concorde, at La Tamise’s bar (rue d’Alger) including pâtisseries from Fauchon, the Parisian Harrods.
5.00pm: Start going back towards the hotel to finish your Christmas shopping in the district. On your way, don’t miss Colette’s concept store, the beautiful range at the Repetto boutique (rue de la Paix), essential oil beauty products from Aesop, elegant perfumes from Penhaligon's, the children’s store Bonpoint and French macaroons from Pierre Hermé’s boutique.
7.00pm: Time for a drink. Enjoy a glass of champagne at the Hôtel Brighton’s bar. Snuggling down in one of our cosy sofas to unwind after your busy day in Paris will certainly feel wonderful.
8.00pm: The night is still young – stay in to simply admire the Eiffel Tower’s Christmas lights or go out to enjoy a performance at the Opéra Garnier (ballet) or the Opéra Bastille (opera) notably Swan Lake to end the day in style!
