“An ancient abbey on the shores of Lake Annecy.”

Situated on the ‘sunny’ shore of Lake Annecy, the Abbaye de Talloires enjoys an exceptional location. It was built by Benedictine monks in the 17th century and then, two centuries later, became one of the first hotels in France, offering all the comfort of a 4-star hotel and the charm of a historic abbey. The abbey has since gained a reputation for its outstanding service.

The perfect place to unwind, the establishment has attracted a large number of famous people such as Mark Twain, Paul Cézanne and Jean Reno.

Outside, the delightful surroundings of the French gardens and the shady terraces are well worth a visit. The abbey also has a private jetty, so guests can enjoy a cruise on Lake Annecy on the hotel’s boat.

Inside, the guest rooms, all originally monks’ cells, are individually decorated and afford magnificent views of the lake and the mountains which encircle it.

“The Abbaye de Talloires is truly blessed by nature. A rare corner of the earth, where the landscape, the atmosphere, the climate and human skill combine to create a magical harmony which remains serenely immune to the vagaries of time and fashion. This is something which I am truly passionate about preserving.”

Dunja Kirchner, who will bid you the warmest of welcomes to Talloires Abbey.
