“Right at the heart of the ‘Golden Triangle’ of the Châteaux de la Loire: Blois, Chambord and Cheverny."

This 17th-century château on the banks of the River Cosson was built in 1620 by the Councillor of State Guillaume Ribier, who commissioned the painter Jean Mosnier to decorate the interiors.

The famous artist, known particularly for his work in the Châteaux of Beauregard, Cheverny and Valençay and in the Palais du Luxembourg in Paris, created the decoration on the ceilings and panelling.

The château is set in an enclosed 33-hectare park which boasts centuries-old trees and through which the River Cosson flows. A total renovation, which was completed at the end of 2016, restored the building’s noble splendour and converted it into a luxury accommodation. It is the perfect place to recharge your batteries and get out and explore the most beautiful of the Châteaux of the Loire, which are only a 20-minute bike ride away.

“We fell in love with Les Grotteaux in 2014. We spent two years completely restoring it so we could open it to the public. Our aim is to give our guests the warmest of welcomes, make them feel completely at home here and ensure that they enjoy all the gems of the Loire Valley.”
