Le Château d'Hattonchâtel

In Lorraine, on a high hill overlooking a valley not far from the river Meuse, the Château d'Hattonchâtel, former residence of Hatton, bishop of Verdun during the Carolingian period, was built around 860.

Until the 16th century, the bishops of Verdun lived there and were coining money. Destroyed in 1643 by order of Richelieu, restored at the beginning of last century, it offers an extraordinary view from its lovely gardens.

From here, you can enjoy and discover the many beauties and treasures of the area, some of which are historical landmarks, for instance Verdun, worldwide capital of Peace.
And a one hour drive will take you to the Champagne region.
