Champollion Museum, at Figeac

Le Château du Viguier du Roy

Figeac, medieval town with an exceptionnal architectural heritage, shelters the native home of Jean-François Champollion, born in 1790, famous for deciphering the hierogliphics. The place evokes today the man and the passionate researcher, while a splendid collection features the country of the pharaohs, the hierogliphic writing and the splendid remnants of the life in the Beyond, near the god Osiris. In the surroundings, you will be charmed by the beauty of nature, alternating valleys and limestone plateaus, strewn with jewels such as the Abbey of Conques, Rocamadour and the castles of the Lot and Dordogne valleys.
